Lookin at a 2003 7.3 4x4 with 312k miles for $8k. Is it worth buying? Or too many miles? Body and interior is in mint condition. 1 owner. What are yalls thoughts.

B50 life for the 7.3 PSD is 350k miles, which has been determined to be a conservative estimate.

The rest of the truck still has 350k miles depending on what has been replaced along the way.

I bought a 7.3 IDIT with 295K on it back in 2007. It is approaching 300K its second time now since those odometers roll back to 300. Knowing what year did they start showing 400K on the odometer might be important to that puchase?
I don't know what year it was, but would assume by 03 the odometer registered higher.

Maintenance records would be a big question? Has it ever had a tuner on it? I know people run them all the time but in the wrong or ill informed hands and a heavy right foot they can cause issues.

All that being said, if it runs good and and you can have a mechanic or yourself check it out thoroughly. Fuel pressures, oil pressure, compression tests, Big ticket items mainly. I don't think I would be scared of it, with a good maintenance program these truck run long and well.

I have two an F350 with an electrical gremlin.... only 130,000 or so showing and I believe it, and a F250 with 300,000, I have rolled up personally and is still going strong.

I bought my 7.3 PSD E350 with 365,000km (not miles) with a history of fleet maintenance. Turned out the engine was well on the downhill side of life.

What the odometer doesn't tell you is the hours.
