Trying to change the IP. All the bolts are off, but the FICM seems to hit the driver side of the intake manifold. Does anyone have any suggestions? What size are the screws that hold the FICM on? I cannot seem to get any allen wrench to work.
I dont know but do not remove the entire timing gear cover!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
remove the pump from the timimg gear by taking off the little plate(7.3) or the oil fill neck(6.9) and remove the 12point head bolts. this way the engine timing will stay intact.
Got that much done, but can't see to get it past the half way off. Already removed the fuel filter housing and that did not help much. This little project is trying my patience very much.
They may be torx head screws, try a T-20. What is a FICM? Do you mean a TPS? Throttle Position Sensor. Have you removed all the steel lines from the IP?
Remove the hard lines to injectors.
Remove the return hose on top of IP.
Disconnect 2 wires, Fuel Sol. and Cold adv.Sol.
Remove the 3 nuts.
Remove the plate on front of the tower. Do not remove the tower.
Remove the 3 bolts holding the IP to the gear. 5/16" 12 point socket.
Slip the ip towards rear of engine, may have to pry.
I've done two IP changeouts on a van recently. I removed all injector lines but kept the TPS attached. It was easy to get out. Any mods to your engine area?
All the injector lines, fuel lines and bolts are associated with the IP are removed. It just seems that the TPS is contacting the intake where the filter housing mounts to. Did you try to remove the IP from the front of the van or by pulling from inside of the van? I am trying from the front of the van and cannot seem to get it very far off the studs. I guess having the flu and being chock full of medication does not help either.
I removed mine from the rear, it looked impossible to remove from the front. I also removed the front passenger seat so I could lay down and reach everything.
