Well, junk, I think you are going to see some meaningful improvements in the way your truck runs and drives. Let's hope that also includes a significant reduction in oil consumption.

Well it's back together. And it runs. It is currently set with the timing marks lined up. I need to either get it timed or pickup a ferret adapter and time it myself. I haven't driven it yet so I can't tell how the power feels. First time I started it there was a rattle, but the pump wasn't lined up and was more to the drivers side. I'm still thinking it probably needs to be more advanced. The engine seems to be idling really low even on fast idle. I did replace the tach sensor with one I had. The tach sensor in the truck worked, but the wires were bare down by the sensor. I'm not sure if it's really idling lower or if its the different tach sensor.

I figure I got about 10.5 hours in the whole deal. Which I thought was pretty good considering how much stuff I did. Hopefully it runs well and the oil consumption starts to taper off. It did run pretty good before, but would have to run better now.

Check to make sure all your copper gaskets have sealed to the head. Engine running, spray a little non flammable penetrating oil on the inj threads. There should be no bubbles around the threads.

I haven't checked to make sure the injectors sealed up, but did check all the fuel connections and they look good. I drove it around a couple miles today. Seems to run fine. Idle has come up also. It now idles around 600 or so RPM versus idling around 400 RPM. Initially this morning when you would tromp the footfeed when it came back to idle it would really get low and want to die. Now after driving it it seems to be acting fine. One big difference I've noticed is before the truck always smelled like raw diesel now it seemed to have just a diesel exhaust smell to it. I was still getting some blue smoke this morning and am hoping that will clean up after driving it around and hopefully getting the rings seated up again.

Overall I'm happy. We'll see how it starts cold. I had it in the heated shop last night so it started fine this morning. We'll see how it does later after sitting outside in 30-40 degree weather. It should start fine, but as winter approaches I get worried.

Happy to see the IP and Injectors worked out for you. As long as you have a good set of plugs in there and two good batteries it should start just fine. My rebuilt engine started at the first turn of the key all last winter after I changed the plugs and put two new batteries in

Yeah it seems to be working great. Thanks again! I drove it about 30 miles tonight and it starts right up. Seems to run quieter. I've got a new set of plugs and the batteries were new this summer. I should be set for winter. Now I have to put the plow on it. I think that's tomorrows project.
