Good morning guys, I’ve got a problem here that needs some serious expertise. I’ve got a 93 F250 7.3 idi factory turbo. My normal oil consumption has been about a gallon every 5,000 miles for the last few years. About 2 months ago I deleted the CDR and rigged up a RDT in the grommet and just plugged the hole in the filter housing where the CDR vented to. Immediately I realized my oil consumption had increased. I’ve been keeping an eye on it and in average I’m adding 2-3 quarts every 500 miles. Valve covers have always leaked since I’ve had it, but today on further investigation I saw my valley pan had a large amount of oil in it. Is all this related to the CDR delete? Just coincidence? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

ps. By the way, before I deleted the CDR I would have a good bit of oil at the compressor inlet on the turbo. Since the delete, it stays pretty clean.

I just deleated mine also, but dont have enough miles to determine if there is more consumption. I first ran my new intake with the CDR but the hole in the intake was to small and caused to much pressure under heavy boost in the crankcase, and dumped oil all over the motor. (Still cant find from where)
Then removed CDR and went with the Banks breather. I Plugged the hole in the rocker cover with a rubber plug.
So far, the only thing I have noticed is the front of my truck "smokes" when warm and idling. This weekend ill put 400 hwy miles on her and see what happens with oil and mileage. 1025191718.jpg

Might wanna check the baffle in the hole where the turbo drains at. For a turbo there needs to have holes poked into the baffle to allow the oil to drain. Make sure not to drill it though to prevent metal chips in the engine

Large amount of oil in the valley pan makes me wonder if the oil return for the turbo or if it's center section is leaking. There are only so many things that will leak significant volume in the valley pan.

Heath, when you say center section, what are you referring to? The cover over the injection pump drive gear?

The center section of the turbo that holds the bearings and seals.... But, oil can leak from the IP gear housing, but it usually has a good seal as there is a lip and silicone channel on the bottom that keeps that area pretty dry.

Thanks for the info Heath .i should’ve taken my time and read your post!!!!! Wouldn’t have asked that question!!
‍♂️ Anyway, I’m working again so it may be next week before I can check that center section and return line. I’ll let you guys know what I find when I do.
