On my last truck, I changed the ignition switch out as the old one was getting super worn. Easy job, but when I was done, I had a door key, an ignition key, and a glove box key.
The tumblers are getting pretty worn on my current truck's key switch, and I want to replace it, but I would really prefer to have the same key that fits the ignition, door and glove box.
If anybody has some info on a longer lasting key switch, I'm all ears. Last time I physically looked at all the brands next to each other and other than chrome vs black, they all appeared to be manufactured by the same folks regardless of who's packaging they were in at the parts store. I don't know if it makes a difference or not, but this truck does not have the "press this lever forward to remove the key" style ignition switch, you just stuff the key in it and turn it on or off.
Lastly, my truck is a 95 Powerstroke, but I posted this in the IDI section because there's usually more traffic/knowledge over here.
