Adding a coolant filter, figgered it was time to flush in any case and add a new bottle of SCA, since I have some on the shelf. Going to switch to a SCA coolant filter in the spring to forget about SCA's...

And yes I verified, 8 gallons give 'er take.

You had better get a second bottle of SCA. Flushed mine out this summer and it took 2 bottles just to register on the test strip. Half of a third bottle brought me up just past the service level.

How many units are in the filter? I'm running an 8 unit Fleetguard. It keeps the SCA's at the upper side of the "safe" range.

Yeah I thought about calling the ford dealer but I'm afaid of the price. And trying to find anything cat around here is near impossible. But I'll look into that also. The Zerex coolant says its good for navistar diesels.....

Try a truck stop, they usually have ELC coolants - it's usually red/pink all the biggies make them.

Try any of your local truck stops - let your fingers do the walking:

or try diesel service places:

zombie thread time

so just to clarify...if its an ELC coolant then we are good to go and don't need diesel coolant additives. Is this correct?
