Someone I know was cleaning out a garage with a bunch of parts..

He's got an injection pump he thinks is a DB2

Does this look like a DB2 that would fit a 7.3 IDI?

    Yes, it's a DB2 pump. Will if fit a Ford/IH IDI, maybe.

Can you post a good picture of the tag you can see there on the side. It will have a few different sets of numbers.

The someone like Wes @Thewespaul or Russ @typ4 should be able to identify what pump that is....

I think that’s for a 6.2 Detroit because of the square mount instead of the round one. Hopefully I’m correct

The longer I look at it I see more. I’m pretty sure that’s not for any ford. All the linkage is on the wrong side

The mount is triangle shaped, not square. I seriously doubt that the 6.2/6.5s were Detroits. Yes, they were built by GM, but I'm fairly certain that they (5.7) were first made by Oldsmobile. Then Cadillac used them in some of their cars too. They were finally used exclusively by Chevy/GMC in trucks. there was also a 4.3L V6 version. It was used in Oldsmobile cars and I know a guy who said that he had one in a Pontiac 6000. I've been all over these inside and out and have never seen either a sticker that said Detroit or the Detroit emblem on any of them. From my limited experience, Detroits were/are used in medium and heavy duty applications.

Ahh.. the hive-mind delivers! Thanks all!

Is there still a demand for these pumps?
What's the core value on these? $50

(If I can get it super cheap, I'm thinking flip it for gas money.. :))

Ask Mel (Agnem) of Conestoga diesel. I believe that he works on those too.

Lol... definitely built by detroit. 5.7 has absolutely nothing to do with the 6.2/6.5. Also neither of the 3 were originally born a gas engine.
    Here's a 6.2 intake manifold. [IMG]

Well I was wrong then, but I never said that they were built off of gas engines.

Man that’s weird I was always told that the 6.2’s and 6.5’s were made by Detroit

Well that sure made Detroit slide down several notches on my scale. To think that they made such a terrible engine.

I know you didn't, just throwing it out there before someone else did. Lol
Its It's kind of funny, the navistar 6.5 blocks were sought after for being stronger.

The gm engine was not BUILT be detroit, they helped with the design. An engineer at carol stream DDA filled me in on this and he said wiki is so wrong on most counts.LOL
