The tone ring had a chipped tooth, but I'm not too worried bout that, cause if my speedo still didn't work then fine, I wasn't rebuilding the rear end just for that.
Help me understand this, you did not have a speedo prior to pulling the cover? If that is the case, did you replace the sensor because you thought it was bad? So, the ring gear could have been loose at that time?
Now, when you refilled it, did you use TL addative? You need that if you have a TL rear. That was kind of off the subject but if it did not have the same viscosity, I wonder if it caused a vibration as you were using it.
I say this because I put a new pinion seal in my car and used full synthetic lube with the addative. After that, the TL has been (I assume) locking the inside tire and chewed up the spider gears. It was so bad that it sounded like someone was beating the car with a hammer when I would make a right turn.
I have to wonder if the ring was cocked to the side and was just holding the bolts in place. After being put back together just got loose and the bolts worked their way out.
