How would I ship an axle

I'm thinking about buying a Dana 60, but its in Arizona (I do believe). Full axle and everything needed to swap.

First off, who should I use to ship it? How much would it cost? And how much does a Dana 60 plus everything weigh?

Hopefully you can find a member on here who's making a trip through AZ and TX and has the space for your axle and is willing to make some detours - while I was still hauling cars all over the place I used to do that for some of the folks on a board I used to frequent, cause even with a gooseneck trailer I still had the front half of the bed empty and could carry stuff for someone. I still do this for my buddies, but with camper on the truck I'm only limited to what can go inside and not make a mess (so no more big-blocks and giant tires and such).

Freight could easily double or even triple the cost of the axle.

Best is to get acquainted with the local independent truckers in your community and know their routes.

It is likely that some of them would have room on the way back home and a couple hundred-dollar bills might just get the job done.


I live in the gate capitol of the world and returning gate-haulers are always bringing home all manner of stuff when they don't have a back-haul.

Where in AZ? I'm in the middle of a move from Albuquerque to Las Vegas right now, and coming back from Vegas to Abq with an empty truck bed and trailer every week to reload and head back west. I could pick it up if it's on the I-40 through AZ and get it as far as Albuquerque if that would help.

I get tires shipped by UPS for $15 each.

Forward air. Just shipped a 14bolt for $249. It weighed in at 545lbs. a Ford D60 should be right at about 595lbs.

That's a lot of fuel to be burning alone- get the girl and call it a short vacation

Forward air will be tghe cheapest if you can't find someone going that way. They only go from terminalto terminal so there would need to be one of their terminals within driving range of the person who is dropping it off and of you to go pick itup, but by far their rates are the lowest for heavy stuff. That's how i shipped my Brownie Regular truck freight would be at least 3-5 times their rate and would end up costing less to make a road trip
