Gary, that's a great point. Never even thought of the damage that might cause. I'll definitely start easing it up.

There's a parking brake pedal under there? I don't think I have ever used it. Maybe that is why my wipers work. Now if I could get the fuel gauges to work...

Ya I don't let my pedal fly up either. I musta done something as the wipers are working correctly again.

My guess is the bad solder joint. You probably have intermittent contact. Mine used to do the same. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't.

Well i still have not found the thing. I found pics online and my dash is completly different than what the pics show. It was a bronco site but I assumed that an 87 bronco would be very simmiliar to my 87 F250.

As I remember it....... Follow the wiring harness out the back of the wiper switch. The next black box it plugs into is the box you're looking for.

I've looked till I'm blue in The face and I don't have anything that looks like that up there! One reply in that thread said its behind the glove box.I'll look there tomorrow. The wires come out of my switch and go into the harness. Maybe i have a dealer installed setup that's different than factory?

Without the module, wouldn't he just have normal wipers?
So buy a new module (if it's still available) plus the corresponding wiper switch, and wallah. You now have intermittent wipers.
I'm pretty sure it just plugs in between the switch and harness, for intermittent wipers only.

Is my thinking correct?

Yes, but that assumes he doesn't have intermittent wipers right now. IIRC, on trucks without intermittent wipers, 'OFF' is all the way to the left (CCW). On trucks with intermittent, 'OFF' is dead center, intermittent is to the left, and normal speeds are to the right.

Chris, please fill in your signature so we can see what truck you have for one thing...

If you have an 87 per one of your previous comments then it's the same as a 87 Bronco dash...unless someone has swapped dashes!

Ok so with all that being said and having previously written an article on this subject, it was my first tech article. Maybe Mel can show us the wiki's? I cannot find them what so ever.

Just cause I'm a nice guy:rotflmao ya I keep tellin myself that...

Here are some pics...to help you a bit! Granted this is on my kitchen floor!

This is the switch and module connected together. SEE that RED plug...it's ONLY on intermittent equipped setups

THIS is the intermittent wiper switch, on the plug end. NOTICE the small broken triangular part in between the spades....
That is a (HACK MOD) for using an intermittent switch on a NON intermittent harness...there is a male prong that protrudes like the terminals that's there to prevent use on non intermittent setups. IT WILL work on them if you do this but you get one speed....HIGH...DON"T ask how I know:sly

here is the switch again...and the wire harness end that connects to the harness that's in the truck.

Here is just the module and the mini harness it comes with.

Hope this bit of info helps you out. If you have further questions ask.

As I said, previously, all this is behind the lower left section of the dash. YOU CAN"T usually see it above the fuse box you have to remove the lower left panel cover where the headlight and wiper switch come out. Then the metal bracket and withdraw the setup then you can access the module etc.

Well I want to thank everybody that chimed in but I give up. I absolutly hate dash work and after spending 2 days under mine as well as under the dash of trucks at the junk yard I'm going to throw in the towel.

I've spent the last hr trying to get the knob for the headlight switch pulled out so I can try to acess the box from that direction(assumung it's back there somewhere as I did not find anything behind the glove box). I know I need to push a pin on the switch and the knob and rod will come out. I simply cant get to the pin to pull the knob out! I'm done! I'm at the end of my rope and aggrevated as all get out! This is the 2nd time I've tried to do dash work on this truck. The first time was hoping to pull the cluster out to clean some connections on te back of that and I could not get my fingers back there to unplug the speedo cable so that got put back together unfixed.

I've got bigger fish to fry and more important things on my mind than a non working intermittant wiper system.

Besides it only raines 3 days a year here anyway.
