They don't work on my 87. The wipers run normal even when on the intermittent position. Is this a bad switch or wiper motor?

Behind the switch. If you take off the fuse panel and stick your head up there, you'll see it. Usually what happens is the solder joints on some of the components on the circuit board fail. Take it out, open it up, and take a look. On my last truck, all I had to do was touch up a couple of solder joints and it was good to go.

Ya I've turned the knob both ways. Thx for the help. Is the problem with the solder easy to see? I was planning on getting another one from the junkyard but if its just a solder joint I may not.

You got a pic? I looked at mine and cant find anything up there except for the back of the wiper and headlight switches. Went to PicAPart and the other 87's are the same. I even removed the fuse block from mine and theres nothing there.

I'll take a look on mine tomorrow and let you know. It's been a few years since I messed with it.

In the meantime, read this and see if it helps: http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/453537-wiper-control-module.html

That's the thread that showed me how to fix it in my last truck (my old screename was whiteyfordzx5).

The above is true about the soldier joints.. Wonder why that happens??/ Its from allowing the parking brake to fly up to the stop when you release it after it has been pressed down to hold the truck positioned somewhere... I always place my foot on the parking brake peddle as I pull the release. then allow the peddle to come up slowly. That spring smacks that peddle up very hard. Then it shakes loose all 7 kinds of hell under the dash in places you would think never igsisted.. Mell taught me that one...:hail:D

You have to remove the headlight and wiper switch knobs and then the plastic cover then 4 bolts/screws holding the bracket in place then pull it all out there is a small black box attached to wiper wires and in there is what we are speaking about.

I wrote a tech article that was in the WIKI section of the tech stuff....Try find it there....ti's a usefull article!
