Hey guys how wide heavy n long are these engines, I’m taking manifolds included, harm balancer the lot. They seem far more capable than the 6.5 Chevs I want too see why no one try’s fit them in our vehicles, (Australian) the 6.5 fits really nice, the 6bts fit good but need suspension mods as there heavy, I’m tossing up a new 6.5 opti for mine down the track but why would ya if you could fit a 7.3idi

I've heard of a couple stuffed into squarebodys. They're similar in size to a gas big block. I don't think they're as long as a 6bt but I've never had any reason to measure.

I would imagine if the 6.5 and 6bt both fit you should have room to stuff a 6.9/7.3 in.

Fully dressed your looking at about 980 lbs (445 kg in Aussie units). 30 in (76.2 cm) in length - minus the fan, and 27 in (68.6 cm) wide. Height will vary from 26 to 32 in (66 - 81.3 cm) depending on oil pan, turbo, etc.

Sweet, thanks guys I’ll take a look, if all goes well on wmo once I’m finished setting up I’ll either try jam one of these in my Ute or just build a fresh optimiser n super charge it, annnd before anyone bashed me for super charger, they look cooler, sound cooler, and who cares about fuel consumption if she’s drinking wmo, but I nice 7.3idi turbo would be very unique over here def a one off,

Compared to the 6.2/6.5 there's more metal in the 6.9/7.3 block and it's physically larger. Holds about twice the oil too. Right there are some basics on why it's a longer lasting diesel. The 6.5 isn't much bigger than a gas smallblock.

That oil cooler log on the driver side makes it hard to fit in narrower frames.

A properly setup optimizer with about 10k in parts competes very nicely with a tidi in a straight line unloaded. The opti heats up too fast for any towing in my experience.

Right there is exactly the go, 6.5 only holds about 7.5L oil, and is very thin in the casting, will they fit in a f100 or f150 that has a 351 in it??

Not 100% sure... but I do believe the frames are wider at the engine bay from '80-96 since the steering box is inboard.

One caution is those frames are thin. I've seen them fully shear in two near the steering box.
