We looked and an 85 dually out here that was beat to hell. The interior was trashed and the engine looked like a birds nest with all the cut and spliced wires. We though we could get it cheap and it would make a nice project. Nope, the guy was firm on $3900. I told him I just looked at a MUCH nicer Powerstroke for that. Oh well, some people just do not get it.

if you had a big enough hammer you still could have driven it home

My GF's uncle/dad's best friend had a saying: "If it don't fit, don't force it, just grab a bigger hammer!" --Ralph Harden

My grandfather's version of that was "Don't use force, get a bigger hammer" :D may he rest in peace

Yeah. Ralph died in '02 and that was 6 years before i could know him as my GF's uncle. I just always knew him as Dad's best friend.

Nice truck, but if you want an engine with it, that's an extra 2K

You're right, people really don't get it.;Really

Shoot!!! I bought the truck in my avitar for $2000, the motor was blown, but the seller gave me a running 92 motor to replace it with. The truck is a 94, and really in pretty nice shape!!! I sold my 85 6.9 for $1900, and it was a lariat 4+4 with a tempco bed and custom stack. The 6.9 had maybe 40,000 on the rebuild when I sold it. That little truck was clean, and pretty plush!!

I paid $1000 for mine. Within 2 weeks I had to replace the glows and controller. It did have a very rusty spring hanger when I got it, now has 3 that need replacing.
There are a lot of little issue that have been coming up as well- it needs a good $500 spent to get it back up to *****.

yea i could use a $1000-%1500 to get the truck freshened up again after two years of no repairs. a lot of things wear out in these trucks after two years. mainly front suspension and steering parts....... ugh!

$3500 doesn't seem out of line at all for a 4x4 with a plow if the thing is in real good shape. Around here, folks want a whole lot more than that for some real heaps with no extras.

Little overpriced for a 85. I can gt a 92 with plow for $3000. I picked up my 95 for 3500 and i know were their is a 94 for $4000 that is mint just needs tires...
