Went to start my truck to go to work last night nothing fired and ran for 2 seconds max if that. As a last resort I unplugged my glow plugs and gave it a small shot of starting fluid (this was a last resort something I never do) still nothing so I took the wife's car to work.

When I got home I checked to make sure I had power to the 2 wires on the IP with the key on NOTHING no power to the high idle either. So the fuel solenoid is not turning on to give it fuel I am thinking.

Please help I need it running by noon to pick up my daughter form the baby sitter today.

THANKS

Do those power lines have fusible links in them somewhere? Just throwing that out there.

There is a connection from the passenger wheel well to the engine harness, try taking it apart and checking it out. They are known to be problematic. Check to see if you are getting 12 volts to you fuel shut off solenoid. If there is 12 volts there with the key on, make and break the wire on the IP terminal. there should be a small spark and an audible click telling you that the solenoid is operating. If you are not getting 12 volts to that terminal, you can use a make shift wire to supply voltage to it until the problem is found. Good luck, keep posting, others will be here later to help.;Sweet

Goose posted what I would have told you to do. That main engine wire harness plug is a common fault too. The two yellow wires in it on the end is the power to the glow plug solenois. Many times that will melt the plug causing all kinds of electrical issues. Clean out any corrosion in that and see what happens. Or just run a jumper wire from the battery positive directly to the injection pump fuel shutoff solenoid. If that starts the engine you can drive forever but... You need to remove the wire to shut down the engine...

hooked a wire from battery positive to solenoid it clicked so hooked it up direct still no start. Touched wire to solenoid again no click bad solenoid I figured so I pulled it off. The solenoid that I took off of my truck is cracked so fuel was getting in it and horted something out smells very burnt that is the problem.

I took a solenoid off of my leaky IP and put it on the truck hooked up direct to battery truck started now I just have to find what shorted out.

you have a fusible link near the start relay that has melted, pull on then one by one, one of them will stretch and break cause the wire is melted inside. red wires with a stripe IIRC

My truck must be a little different I have a big fuse block on the drivers side fender I had a huge 20A fuse blown. In the book it also shows there are fuses for trailer lights??

Thanks to everyone it is back up and running like it should. Now I just need to find one of those huge fuses.

Picture huge so you can see the crack

Do you have a picture of this fuse block? Could be a cool mod to get rid of the stupid fuse links.

Those solenoids can and will crack. That's not abnormal. They will still work that way. However, if it has a short, that's another matter. It's not caused by fuel getting into it though.

The solenoid I pulled out smelled burnt so thats why I figured it shorted out due to the fuel. I put in a new fuse and solenoid and the truck runs better than ever.

Congrats!
Glad you found out the problem, I know that sometimes the electrical can be quite a monster to figure out no matter how small the gremlin. Not only do we have simple yet incredible engines, but also the best resource for information to turn to.

I know I will file this away in my head just in case I ever have similar problems.
