Just to add my two cents here.
I started with a hotfox, heated Vegmax filters, 26 plate FPHE, looped return, and a vegtherm. my FPHE was outside of the loop, so the returned fuel was only getting reheated by the vegtherm. It worked great during the summer, but as temps got colder, I was pretty cool on fuel temps (it seemed to struggle to get to 150).
I had an episode where my vegtherm was plugged by the WVO clining to the sidewalls (likely occurring when switching from hot WVO to cold #2).
This week-end, I moved the FPHE to inside the loop. This got my temps WAY up. Seeing 180 - 190 now instead of 140-150. It should also help eliminate the vegtherm clogging. I got my FPHE from plantdrive when I got the kit, I don't remember, but I think it wasn't too much more than the other sizes.
BTW -- the sender for my temp guage is sitting RIGHT before the pump...I've got about 3 inches of hose between the sender and the pump inlet. It's a good spot.
