Has anyone ever put a 6.9/7.3 IDI diesel into a Dodge D/W series truck?

I know it sounds crazy, but I’ve never once heard of anyone putting an IDI diesel in a 92-93 D/W series Dodge. Has anyone ever done this? And if so, where would a guy find that forum. And yes I’m aware the Cummins can make more power and blah blah blah. I just see people putting Cummins engines into the F250s and 350s, and wondered if anyone has ever done the opposite.

I have a haywire possible-future plan with a 7.3 Tidi. It would use the f350 frame chunk and matching dana 60.

Otherwise I'm not sure the dodge frame is roomy enough. The oil cooler log on the driver side is one thing, starter is a tight fit on the ford already, then that huge radiator that drops down between the frame rails.

That’s a good point. I was just wondering if anyone had actually ever done it.

Random 92-97 ford frame pic I lifted off FB. It's pretty wide fwd of the cab. IIRC, the bumper-bolt centers are 36" apart.

I think the dodges are only 34 inches, but that’s only an inch less on each side.

30 at the front, i think, last i checked. Chevy was 28. I dealt with the difference fitting a Chevy bumper on my dodge..

I think ford is at 38ish... as the bumper bolts are slightly inboard of the rails.
