So I finally got my turbo installed, a banks non wastegated, and I don't have any boost reading. The thing whistles really loud and gets louder when I increase the load. I checked my boost gauge with a bike pump, and that works. Any thoughts.

How are you testing this... You need to load up the truck and pull a grade for the boost to show up. you just can't rev it in the driveway and expect boost.. Heat and flow make boost.. The more you have of both equals boost and usualy lots of it.

you should definately feel a difference, did you check the boost gage from the line in the engine bay or at the gauge, I thought I had almost no boost with my kit that I briefly had on the truck and come to find out my boost line was kinked like hell, no telling how much I was making because I could definately feel a difference, I went from hitting 60 to 75 or so through a track we had marked off, pretty close to an eighth mile

Not even a lil bit. My butt o meter tells me that I got something happening. And it sounds really cool, but I can't see boost. Do you think it's crazy to weld a bung to the up pipe and see what kind of pressure I got there?

Sounds like your intake isn't sealed at the hat or the outlet of the turbo. What did you use to seal the hat to mainfold?

Yea I hooked up a bike pump to the capillary line in the engine compartment so I checked the line all the way thought the fire wall. The gauge worked.

I used a new gasket from a banks gasket kit. Does it matter if I'm not running the stock k and from banks? I'm running a cone style off that stupid banks box. It's kinda rigged so it might be leaking some unfiltered air, but I can't see how that would affect boost.

How's the exhaust smoke? I'd think it would be a bit smoky if it was getting enough fuel for being turbo'd but wasn't getting any boost.

haha i don't think so.that whistle is nothing compared to the increase in power you should be feeling.if your boosting, you would know it.there would be no question.with the 2nd gen banks,it was just like someone set an additional 4 cly engine to go along with my n/a 8 cyl to help you understand that there is no mistaking things.the power level should be great.i don't think your boosting at all.but i don't understand why.
i like Burts question.answer that one for us?
