Picked up a BW1354?? Number might not be right... And a NP205:thumbsup:
Anyone know if there is a difference in the low range ratio between the two?
I'm concidering putting the 205 in the 92 when I get it built.

np 205 - 1.96:1 ratio
bw 1345 - 2.72:1 ratio

Go with the 205, it's a hoss... steel case vs. aluminum, gear drive vs. chain, and it can be set up for twin stick operation if you so choose.

205 is the most indestructible stock light duty tcase you can find, as has been said - the only real knock on them is the lack of a good low range ratio - but there are ways to change that if you find it necessary

Does anybody know what it would take to mount a NP205 behind a ZF5. My truck has a BW1356 behind a ZF5 right now but the transfer case is shot and i would like to put a NP205 in there instead since i do a fair bit of 4x4ing and the NP is alot stronger than the BW.

To use a divorced style transfer case I'm pretty sure you have to use a 2wd tranny, because the transfer case doesnt bolt directly up to the back of the tranny. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Cant beat the creeper gear that is 4Low 1st gear, maxes out at like 5mph LOL

I thought they made a 205 that would bolt right up to a ZF? Definitely a better trans as was stated. All gears, with no chain.

So the BW has a lower gear? I figured the NP would... They are both about the same length and use the same mount so I could allways swap it out if I dont like it.
I think any Ford married 205 will fit a ZF since Ford used the same bolt pattern on all transmissions.

it is all steel and gear to gear. now they did make a NP205 married and divorced, so do some research and find out if the married case will bolt up if so 4x4 shops tend to horde those and really want the divorced case. if the divorced case is all you can come up with you do need a 2wd trans. good luck!

i guess you guys are missing the big picture. take the bw1354 and remove the frt output shaft and chain. cut the case (where the frt output was) as close to the gear case as possible without cutting to much on each case half. weld alum plate where you removed the frt output shaft. put halves back together and seal it up. install to transmission and there you have another low range. also it lets you keep your 4x4 transmission and run a divorced mount transfer case.
i am in the process of doing this setup on my trk. but im using a 203 mounted to my zf5, with a divorced mount 205. also i will have three shifters just for my transfer cases.
