I have most of the bolt on parts needed. Now, I am debating pulling the motor and going futher. There's nothing wrong with it as it is. I hate to go against the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" rule, but the results that NMB2 has had with his 1st built are tempting me to alter my initial build plans past bolt on parts.

I would second a kit like you are suggesting. In a way, I think it would streamline builds in the future to put IDIs back on the map! NMB2, are you planning to produce all of these parts by yourself or market them through DPS?

Subscribing! :popcorn

Well that is my plan. Offering a bolt on powerpack that just about anyone could install. I would just sell it as a kit. It would probably be very similar to my current engine's modifications.

All parts that I marked on my initial list as being able to sell, I would produce myself. Obviously my "power packs" will need DPS products, so if interest is shown, I am sure Ken and I will be able to work together to get these kits put together. They would be on a build to order basis.

Just keep in mind that my current motor is all bolt on parts.

The new motor will go further.

Alot of variables to consider. I am only going to offer parts for 093 based kits. This is a really rough estimate, could come out a little cheaper, but a COMPLETE powerpack with all parts needed to build what I currently have would be in the $2k-$2.5k range.

No clue yet on what my new build is going to cost... probably closer to 4k

Would the kit include the head gaskets, or just studs (possibly stock type gaskets)?

Ill throw my two cents in here, as worthless as it may be...

I parallel the IDI with the turbo 2.3 ford, and with both being powerplants that cater to the people with a bit different taste, and lighter wallets, Id say you really have a narrow customer base. I tried offering a product to the 2.3 crowd that was a great product as a very decent price (for what it was), and it was very popular as far as how great it was, but when it came down to dropping cash, it just simply became not worth the trouble. It took me months to sell 4 of the items, and those were just the prototypes at a discounted price. The IDI is the same deal, only a few people actually drop cash on it to really get some performance out of it. Now Maybe it will be different for you, as you have proven that it works, but I dont see a huge customer base... The only thing I say is make sure its worth your while, and that will keep you going...

Which is why its a build to order deal, and at the prices I am charging, I wouldnt be making a whole lot. Mostly just helping other IDI drivers put their old diesels up and beyond the level of newer diesels without a payment plan.

that include studs? and if it did would it be dps studs? supposedly dps studs aren't so impressive compared to arp. and they're $700.

i'd say i'd be interested, but tbh i want to get started on my project soon so I don't know that i'll be waiting for a package deal. I will be interested in individual parts though, mainly the 2.5" up-pipe and definitely a custom intake if you're going to be selling them since the upgraded compressor housing wont fit with a factory intake shell.

Any rough estimates on when you'll be selling these items? An estimate for each items cost would be cool too
