Has anyone added the 38 gallon tank while keeping the 19gallon side tank? And if I added the 38gallon rear tank would I need to modify my skid plate? (I'm assuming I would)

Please add the details of your truck to Your signature; year and model, 2 X 4 or 4 X 4, engine and tranny. Click on the USER NAME in the TOP BLACK line, and then click on signature and add the details. This will keep US from asking these questions over and over. :Thumbs Up

Its my plan to have the 38 gal and the 19 gal in my '91. I bought the modified sending unit from @Thewespaul and I already had a tank from a different project. Since he sells the 38gal setup he should know more about other steps involved in the swap.

I'm also planning to run both tanks. Someday, Wes will be able to get more tanks shipped to him.

Its a 91 f250HD 7.3 4x4 with skid plates on everything but engine.
It would be so sweet to have a 38gal and the 19gal side tank

Or go overboard and run a 38 gal midship tank from a superduty and 38 gal rear tank..

If you want to run both tanks together I’d recommend sumping both tanks so you’re getting the entire fuel capacity out of both tanks, no matter what shape your shower head is in you’ll never get the same capacity as you would with a sump, and your fuel system will be gravity fed versus being pulled through a straw so you’ll experience much quicker priming and less potential issues with air intrusion.

With a sump you can eliminate the factory lines with the o ring sealed quick disconnect fittings and run pushlock or an lines up to the selector switch and have it function like factory but with access to your lines without dropping tanks and drain ports on each. Alternatively you could run a fuel transfer system between the tanks and eliminate the selector switch, check out project Queso on here for some ideas on that setup.

Pretty common mod here. 38 gallon rear and stock 19 front tank. The tank should come with longer hangers for the skid plate and parts to mod the sender. You'll have to ditch the stock spare carrier though.

    Oh no! Not me.

This is what I'm going to do. My FSV has already been bypassed due to a leaking rear tank. I'm doing this to get more capacity and to do away with the dead weight of the inop tank.

That's what I usually do myself.
