Hey guys I tossed a used fuel tank (front one) in my truck and It is loose, I can wiggle it around with my hand a bit. Im not sure what material ford used between the tank straps and the tank, or the tank and the upper crossmember, was it plastic? mine was pretty much gone. I found new fuel tank straps from rock auto for $15. not bad but the pic only shows the metal straps, not the material that goes between the strap and tank.

anyone purchase these straps? does it come with anything other than the strap itself?
or should i just shim the tank with some thin plastic untill it fits snug?

also, 85' F250 extended cab long bed 4x4, should have the 19 gal tank for the front tank right?

You can use a piece of roofing cut into strips, put the smooth side towards the tank. Works good.

What ^^^ he^^^ said.

Cut strips from an asphalt shingle or thick tar-paper.

Strips cut from old inner-tubes were good forty-years ago; not so anymore, as inner-tubes are made of pretty sorry stuff that soon deteriorates.

I've slit 5/8" heater hose lengthwise and used that as insulator. Firehose would work good too if you could find it.
