After my ordeal in THIS thread, I finally got a new fuel pump in the truck this evening. It started fine and I allowed it to idle for five minutes. I could tell that the miss was still there. Took it on the road and had my normal 10-12lbs of boost, on the hill near home. Thanks for the fuel pump suggestions!

However, I still have a miss and assume it's a dead injector. I guess that can happen when you run your truck, while starving the injectors of the proper amount of fuel. :dunno

I'd like to run a KOEO buzz test, but don't know the procedure. Anybody? When I find the offending injector, I'll need to replace it. I would like to replace them all, but that is NOT in the budget right now. Does anyone have a stock 94.5~ injector lying around, that I could try?

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: I also checked the FPR screen and it was clogged beyond recognition! That was also cleaned..

run it for a day and see if it clears up. As far as the fuel pump. The KISS programs works for PSD's too.

While limping it home the other night, it would clear up from time to time. By the time I got it home, it would no longer clear up. I can certainly run it to work and back tomorrow (72 miles) and see how it does..

Running it that way won't hurt it.... Will it? I thought it would be way off-balance..

Drive it. It will not hurt it.

As for the buzz test you will need a scanner or AE for that.

Hang on don't jump the gun You need to check your wiring harness that lead to and under the valve covers for burnt connectors and while you have the valve covers off start her up and get a really good light and watch the oil pumping out of the injectors and if its just one injector you should be able to see no or low oil flow from that one if you can't see a difference start unpluging injectors one at a time till you find the one that doesn't make as big of difference. If you need 1 injector I think you can get new stock injectors for 150 from swamps

Thanks for the tips Aric.. I will check the connectors, but I wouldn't think that could be the problem. That cylinder would start missing, then clear up, then start missing again. This happened 6 or 7 times, until it just never cleared up again.

That's common with a bad UVCH harness. Check it out.

the rattle of the engine can make and break the uvch connections. check the harnesses FIRST before buying another injector. remember KISS!

As you check the harness, you should detect a burnt wire smell if its bad. You know the stench your EMD makes when it fries.:D

Hey man... I've only let the smoke out of two EMD's!!! (Other than the coal, that a couple like to roll!)

I looked at the external part of the harness this evening and found two brown wires, with some copper showing. That was on the driver's side-front plug. Other than that, there is no fried smell. WOuld a melted wire be inside, or outside the valve cover?
