Hello well its getting warmer now so I guess I don't have to put the anti gel additive in with the diesel anymore. So what do I have to put in it now when I fill up tonight? its a 1988 f250 7.3L

Cant go wrong with Howes Meaner Power Cleaner
Good stuff Remember , with pickups you want to dose higher, its not critical as it is with antigel, but all products made for big trucks are rated for large volum systems with a high return rate, and on cars and pickups require rougly 3 times the mix to preform properly ( which is why none of those stupid tests on the internet are valid , of which , I;m certain someone will put a link to one)

Ayup. I can still remember the first time I ever put Howes in a big truck.... around 30 years ago. It was running like crap and I dumped that stuff in ...and it started pouring out the thickest brown smoke Id everseen for about 20-30 miles , then it smoothed out, next tank it ran like a top. and just kept getting better. been using it ever since

So, given your suggestion to overdose, would you recommend splitting the 8oz bottle between the two tanks?

I'm looking into ordering a case of this stuff to try it out. I've run PS Diesel Kleen (with cetane boost, silver bottle) quite religiously since I bought the truck over a year ago, but the 32oz guy (treats 100 gallons) is up to $10/bottle at this point, and the Howe's is only $4 for the 8oz bottle, which according to their literature, treats 80 gallons.

Meaner Power Cleaner is good stuff, but I'm not sure you will want to run it all the time. Howes Diesel Treat is what I run year round. Lubricity is what your after in the summer.

Checked my local O'Reilly today while picking up some other parts. Yep, they carry the Howes stuff, too. They had both the 8 oz Meaner Kleaner and the Diesel Treat in two different sizes, so I picked up both. I threw the entire 8oz Kleaner into the front tank before filling up tonight, so we'll see how it goes. Truck already ran real sweet before, but anything that prolongs the IP and injector life is always good with me.

I like running Stanadyne Proformance Formula year round. It does what I want it to do. I may try others but I have some much of the proformance formula I can wait.. I bought 12 gallons of it on my way to the 2009 rally. I'm now down to 1 1/2 gallons.. I need another road trip to Phenoix I guess to stock up..:sly The last place I saw it in the 1/2 gallon jugs it was $32.00 each... I paid $12.00 per half gallon jug and got three cases of it....:thumbsup:

They finally switched back to summer fuel around here, which I am happy about!! Not sure if the lubricity changes with it or not however.
Anyways, I always use a low blend of quality bio in my old diesels for lubricity. On my 84, I have an aftermarket 2 micron filter/seperator for added peace of mind. I run Howes during the winter with an even lower bio blend. Or I will run 2 stroke oil or ATF anytime a year, provided that I get it for a good price. It always boils down to price, I will always run something, but always in conservative amounts to keep costs in check.

Lubricity will not change with the winter or summer blend. We have to add lube to keep our pumps and injecters happy. Our simpley replace them around 100,000 miles and be done with it.
