I purchased a new front parking brake cable and what I was given is listed as correct for my truck.

The factory cable I pulled out had a larger rubber 'Grommet" on it that pressed into the hole in the floor/firewall.

The smaller rubber grommet on the new cable just passes right through the hole and does not have a chance at sealing.

I have checked pictures of all the manufacturers and they seem to all have the smaller grommet except ABSCO (canadian company).

I would just order an ABSCO 6481 cable and be done with it, but partsmonkey wants $127.00 to ship a $35.00 cable to Alaska.

In the picture below, is the grommet I sliced off the old cable and the new cable for comparison.

Whats the deal here?

Make your own with foam tape from a a/c shop and be done. Sounds like somebody screwed up at the supply house.

Every manufacturer I can find shows the cable with the same smaller grommet. Wagner, ACDelco, Bendix, Raybestos.

I found an out of date Ebay auction for a Ford OEM cable that had the larger grommet.
