Rock auto has them at 69 and change a piece thats with the 10 dollar core charge. Would you guys buy these say over Mel's injectors or R&D idi (justins injectors) this is for a stock n/a 7.3 idi. Im a sucker for OEM parts but they do cost more than 8 sticks from R&D idi.
Personally I wouldn't buy them OR R&D over Mels injectors. Mel is a great guy and does great work. Buying from Mel or R&D or Typ4 you will get you a pop tested set that will all fire at the same pressure. If you buy from any parts house such as rockauto they still need to be pop tested and matched, adding to the cost (while not strictly necessary, it is good practice and will ensure proper performance).
Get a set from Mel or Typ4 Are you a sucker for doing it twice? IF so then get some part house sticks
what's the difference? the needles and tips on Typ4 and R&D's injectors are new mfg. I believe Mel also does the same. needles and tips are the critical wear areas and really should not be reused.
The difference is they come matched. It is critical that all injectors be within the same popping pressure for performance reasons Mel @ CDI, Typ4, and Justin at R&D do this on their injectors, which makes them superior to the others. Where part house sticks have been known to be off +/- in pressures
I’m sorry but it’s more than pressure matching and new nozzles/pintles. What kind of springs you use for one is a big deal. Crap Chinese springs don’t wear evenly and will throw your pressure matching off in no time. Lapping the body and fuel block so the spring sits on a flush surface with no wear gouges helps get an even result as well. Bottom line, buy the best fuel parts you can afford.
You can pm typ4 on here, call Mel at (717) 806-5561 or call Justin at R&D at the number on his website, don’t have it saved on my phone. I sell injectors as well if you want another option
Would new Statadyne injectors be matched? I would expect they have some specs they need to meet, and new ones would fall within this range. Just curious as I bought some new injectors recently, but did not have them tested.
