Hello everyone, my name is Exekiel and this is my first post in this forum. I know some of you personally already from the idi weekend.

I will start with a question about my cooling system, i installed a isspro water temp gauge some days ago and noticed for the first time my temp was 200-220 most of the time, 220 on the highway with a/c. I got my hand on a lasser temp gauge to verify that the water temp was correct and after that i replaced the radiator for a new 4 row one. After this i still have this problem, i cheked on Jasper and ask the part # termosthat they use and it is rt1049 motorcraft or 14399 stand. I'm runing out of ideas, also cheked the fan and it is allways runing bc of the heat so i do not know wath it could be so far so any ideas are welcome.

Thank you, Exekiel. ;Sweet

HRC Heatex-Spec Heatex HD-Core
FD-Truck 23 5/8 x 30 3/4 x 3

I traded in a Heatex PC/LT Core

This was the radiator I put in The Enterprise when I was fighting high water temps after the turbo install. I coupled this with the modified fan clutch from MS TECH >>> Click Here <<<

They are currently not taking orders online but if you get them on the phone they can set you up. I think Darrin just got his for a little over 200 bucks.

I installed both the new custom rad core and fan clutch at the same time. I could watch the thermostat cycle after all that so the fan clutch was not kicking on unless I was pulling a hill in the hot weather with the A/C on full blast. It took quite a bit for the fan clutch to kick in after the radiator.

I called the guy but he said my over heating problem could be from something else and also that he need to see the truck to give me something for it  . Anyway if i did not mentioned before, the truck has allways run this hot since they installed the jasper engine, so i wonder if it could be the thermostat even though jasper tech said they install either the motorcraft or the stand brands but he can't asure it was that the brand because the engine is from 8 months ago, funny ah?

a few minutes after i start the engine it will kick in and keep on all the time. the problem is that i got up to 230 on a long hill with no load, and every time i turn on the a/c the temp goes UP a bit.

Exekiel.

ps- I know another truck same as mine The lady Moose and it runs 190 on highway instead of 210 on mine.

Exekiel,
Man that is a bummer. I was in hopes the new Rad would fix your problem.
Gary (Rad guy) checked the temp difference between your upper and lower hose. There was a 20 degree difference. And he thought there should have been more like a 40 degree difference.

I hope someone else can give you some help/ideas on your over heating problem. I can testify that when you popped the hood on the trip home from the Rally. It felt like you had a nuclear reactor under the hood.

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

Go and get the IH 192 t-stat, it is under 20 bucks, and if you still have the problem, at least you know it is not your t-stat. Throw money at the cheap stuff first. Should be able to order one from any International dealer. Scotty

EZ,
I am not sure what the propane does for temp boosting since you installed the aftermarket gauges after the pane, turbo and fuel adjustment. What does it do if the propane is off?

Others with more "pane" knowledge?
Would that be a possibility if the solenoid is stuck on all the time or too much going in?

How much propane have you consumed since the install?

I am still learning these as well but I thought would be good questions for those of you who are BBQ'ing. :Sly

Charlie might be on to something with the lack of tempetween radiator top and difference bottom.

Propane will make no/little difference at all, I run it all the time and the truck still stay at 192* or below cruising, it will climb up if I am pulling large hills and such, but the propane should not cause any temp difference. If he had too much going in, it would ping like crazy.. You can really tell, feels like a 1000rpm hammer in the engine compartment. Scotty

I would get the correct t-stat, test it, then, whatever is cheapest, a new 4-5 row radiator, or a upgraded fan clutch, then if either of those don't work, well, the only other thing it could be is timing, or a bad Water pump I would think. Start cheap first, and then move to the more expensive. I highly doubt it would be the water pump, they seem to last a long time, and Exexiel's seems pretty new. Scotty

well i replaced the t-stat today for a motorcraft part #rt-1049, the one on the engine was not a motorcraft part not even a brand name on it. but it still      -cuss -cuss up to 200f at idle alone. the fan is running all the time so far but i tested it and it does not move back and forward and spins fine. I'm runing out of ideas and $ wath else could it be?.

I have not tried it yet on the road just idle on the drive way but it got up to 195-200f. i know it is not normal cause on the way back i was up to 220f and stop on a g-station and just touch the fender it was really hot, i tried to turn on the a/c and the high pressure hot pop up. after it cool down (next day) i tried the a/c again and no problem cause it was at 200f.

btw the propane never made a diference before except on power, but this last time it got this hot. Mel did my timing it was retarded 2 deg

EZ, you need to verify what your gauge is telling you. Try this. Open your radiator cap, and let the engine run. Put a thermometer in the water and compare the reading with your gauge. See if it is accurate. Give me a call if you need help.

Mel, when i went to the radiator guy he had one of those laser gauges and the temp on the same point the sensor is connected read the temp the gauge have on the pod pillar, so i know it is accurate. so far i replaced the rad and the termosthat for a motorcraft one (have a pic to compare the motorcraft and the one that was in there) the only thing left is the fan clutch, could it make such a diference? i know it is runing most of the time.

thank you, Exekiel.

EZ is it possable that the 4 extra lights mounted on the bumper are blocking enough air into the rad? Just tossing out an idea. Russ
