you are correct.
if the turbo fits with pass side CDR, it will remain this way.
doing my own electrical, and i want all electrical on the driversside.

OK, let me just say here and now that teeth are the worst design ever. Just when your kids sleep through the night, and you are use to it, sharp tiny objects slowly push their way through the gums inflicting pain in small humans that have a genetically engineered cry to annoy you personally out of your mind. Fast forward 12 years and they do it all over again? ***? then that set has to last you for the next 70 years? I'm sorry but the man up stairs got teeth all wrong. Sharks! Now they have the setup!

The Ford part number use to be F2TZ-6701-A and it comes with oil seal & sleeve kit. But its been a long time since I've had my hands on an IDI. Hopefully someone will confirm.

I would not use the sleeve, set the seal a little deeper in to the carrier one way or the other. Unless there is a huge groove in the crank it will do fine. I do not like thin sleeves unless absolutely necessary.
If you feel the need to use one , put 518 in the crank groove or else the thin sleeve will conform to that groove, thus defeating the purpose of the sleeve.

mocking everything up so i know what hardware to use.

turns out that i have the stock rear main seal, and the sleeve type.
it pays to have extra stuff!

but uahhhh no way im gonna do that seal one way or another with the engine on the stand, i tried..lol

i wanna get all of the little odds and ends on today, so i can take them off and paint them.
gotta pull the cold side of the turbo off and have it either polished or powder coated... undecided, but a nice polished cold housing and turbo hat would look pretty slick.

no go for a pass side CDR, the dipstick tube bracket would not clear.

gonna spend the rest of the day hooking up my oven in the garage so i can get to coating the exhaust stuff.
then out to the fab shop for some work on the actual truck!

You ARE checking on pulley alignment right for serp pulleys? It is important to avoid belt issues and so forth ...
