Dumb question, but are you sure you're turning it the right direction? It's reverse thread. I've certainly done similar things a time or 2.

I would try to put heat on the fan clutch nut and use a big hammer. It should come off.

Honestly not sure you can pull the water pump with the clutch on - IIRC the pulley covers a couple of the bolts and you can't get the pulley loose without pulling the fan clutch.

Yes I was turning it the right direction (clockwise to loosen). And after that initial pop the nut spun off freely by hand. That first pop was a doozy though!

So I'm good, clutch is off, and radiator is off, thermostat is replaced, water pump tomorrow.
