I just picked up a 1994 F-Superduty that looks like a proper 4x4 conversion. Can someone help me confirm this is a KP Dana 60 front axle? I’m not sure what else it would be.

It is a 1356 transfer case but it currently won’t stay engaged in 4hi (have to hold the lever back) and it will not slide into 4lo.

If the pinion is below the axle centerline, it's most likely a dana 70. Marmon Herrington built some of these conversion axles,

I have the same problem with my transfer case, and all I have to do every year or two is get under there and lubricate the large pivot bolt on the shifter lever. If it's really bad you will probably have to take it apart. You are supposed to have to pull the lever toward your leg to get it back into 4 low and when you release the lever in 4 low there is a notch that it goes into. Then to get it out of 4 low you have to pull the lever toward your leg and then move it forward. That pivot bolt under there likes to get corroded and stick.

Pinion is indeed below centerline. There is a “70” in the casting on the pumpkin too.

This doesn’t have a factory shifter but I’m looking for one to replace it with. It’s just a straight lever with no detents or notches in the linkage framework anywhere.

I had to free up the shifter on my 1994 F250 when I got it

How does the Dana 70 stack up against the KP D60? That truck must be an absolute tank.

The conversion Dana 70's I've dealt with are built exactly like a KP 60 except for the center section and 10-lug hubs.
