So I broke the plastic nipple off my power steering pump, went to the junkyard (msi) and they wanted 40$ for me too pull. Said alright and headed out , found only two in usable condition and one had J&B weld on it from the same deal and the other I broke trying to get a supper old hose off (ooppss). Went to napa they wanted 60$ for a brand new one , not bad but I'm to inventive for that! Bought a double barbed hose fitting and it's a perfect fit! 3$ and change
In the pic I just set it in to show it will seat it all the way here in a minute.

my very own hell
This seems to be a method used by some PS pump remanufacturers as well. Not same part, but same idea. Got one of those pieces of junk from a parts store a long while ago, was the only one in stock IIRC so I couldn't be picky, that reservoir went back as a core with the old pump and the new pump got the old pump's res and I got some freebies as a compensation for the extra work. Why go thru the trouble of switching reservoirs? Cause the factory made the return line 3/8" for a reason, choking it down just seemed like a very bad idea.

So yeah, what you got going on there is a good temporary fix, but I'd also be looking for a new res with proper size fitting.
