Easy coolant filter

I'm under the impression that the bypass is the filter itself. When the filtering element gets plugged, coolant will still flow though the filter, it just won't have anything filtered out of it. This way, it doesn't cut off coolant flow. Kind of like our oil filters do.

I think what he is saying is that he is able to bypass the filter setup completely until he has enough heat in the truck. It seems like the filter loop robs enough heat from the core that you cant get the truck warm in cold weather. I saw a guy that installed a temp valve style bypass for the same reason but I think I’d honestly rather stick to manual shut off valves to simplify (by complicating!).
