This weekend I had the chance to go to Arkasas to meet with Brad Deckard. He and his father are tractor pullers. He is upgrading his tractor yet again and had some parts I could use for my DT466 repower.

I bought a 1100+cc Hypermax modified P-pump and the adaptor plate, gear, and hub.

I also bought a set of 120 thosands (larger than stock) stainless steel injector lines.

I picked up a set of hardend connecting rods with updated (stronger) rod bolts.

And last but not least, a S400 turbo with an 80mm inducer and three exhaust housings. It also has updated bearings and was built by Area Diesel.

The turbo has a 132 housing on there now, the middle housing is a 125 and the smallest is a 110.

His third turbo for the tractor is the largest in the photo. It's compressor would NOT fit in the 5 gallon bucket you see in the photo as a size reference.

I can't wait to get the crew cab done so I can get some work on the DT466 started.

Love the Header on the first Pulling tractor, are you gonna do some sort of header on yours Heath!

Great pics thanks for showing and thanks to your buddy's for allowing the pics as well. (assuming they know:sly) Some of these guys are pretty secretive on what they build!

Thanks guys. Yeah, it's techically going in the '86. But, I will likely use the '91 parts truck's frame. I'll strip it naked and start mod'ing it to fit the DT466, the transmission (Eaton Fuller FS6306A), T-case (will be a SCS unit), and 10 lug Dana 80. I can use the parts truck's cab for clearance checks/cuts/mods. Once that is done, I'll put the cab, clip, bed off the '86 on that frame along with the Dana 60.

The turbo pictured is the small bottom charger. I still need to find a larger top charger for the twin setup. Brad recommended an old school but good turbo, the Air Research T18A95. But,I don't know what I'll use yet.

No header at first. I'll run the stock three piece manifold. I need to find or make a T4 to T6 turbo flange adaptor to mount the bottom charger in the photo's above. They were a little cautious about the photos, but he didn't (wouldn't) show me what IP he's going to use (my guess is a CDS Sigma), lines, injectors, the middle charger (the one in the photos is a mock up only), the head, block, pistons, sleeves, cam (again, a mock up only in the photos). His Dad only told me his engine is not a 400 sereies IH, I assume he's running a 300 sereies.:dunno:eek::D

Well, I'm not going too crazy with the swap, but I don't have to go too crazy to get 1000HP.;Really The suggested timing for that P-pump is 40 to 42 degree's BTDC!!!!

He's prolly gonna tell us that he was able to do all that work thru the tail pipe. :D
It should be easier to work through the tail pipe on this engine as it will have to be in the 6 inch diameter range. Much better than the 2 to 2.5 inch diameter pipe I usually work through.

This is amazing....I lose sleep thinking about finding stuff to start my project...actually I think I may have found a 4 door IH in arizona cheap. Just gotta clear my fleet out a little if it goes through!

Opps, I forgot a photo of the sweet valve cover I'm going to put on the DT466. The one in the photo is Brad's, but he has a buddy that makes them, and I'll be getting one when the time is right. All aluminum, more clearence, and stronger than the stamped steel stock cover.-Drool

It will polish up to a nice shine pretty easy and will allow larger valve lift with a more aggressive cam as well.
