Cant imagine that my 95 is any different than 92-94.

My dome lights only work when the passengers front door is open or the headlight switch turns them on.map lights don't work at all.have no power to the other 3 door switches.

Is there a common problem with them? Where do the wires go so I can look for broken wires.

On my '90 the door switches are fed by a + green/yellow wire from the light switch, and when "on" send + through a black/blue wire to the dome light. It is NOT a ground-switched system as some people here have stated in older threads I've researched. They may have changed it in later years, though.

Check the drivers switch, make sure it's got 3 connectors on the switch...if not that's likely the issue...a 2 connection one won't work...two I had from drivers side where worth out...A new one seemed to cure the problem...are your replacement ones NEW? or just new to you...LOL

Check the connections on the headlamp switch D2 terminal. With the doors closed, jumper on the switch from D1 to D2, dome lights should come on. IIRC wire to dome lights is Green/Yellow. Map lights is Black/Blue, should be hot all times

Tested the switches with a meter so I know they are good.

Did ya check the THREE wires on the drivers side....its what part of my problem was, on pin connection in the door switch and a bad connection in the door switch wire connector...just saying this sounds LOTS like what I went through....

Finally a new switch and...and a new to me...in good condition pigtail..I became GOLDEN

Fixed it.

Under the black plastic trim in the drivers front door jam where the wiring harness runs along the rocker.there is 6 green/yellow trace wires that are supposed to be crimped together.mine was full of green corrosion.snipped it out and soldered them back together.all lights now work.

Gonna wait till dark to go play with my new to me after 7 years lights.

Just an FYI: the newer/nicer/super common Taurus dome light is a true bolt in, and I can't believe how much nicer they are than the little "spot lights" that came in my truck. Really simple, really nice upgrade, it's nice to have enough light inside your truck.

Glad to hear you got your issue resolved, now treat yourself to an upgrade :D

Seconding the heck outta this! For bonus points, I outfitted the Taurus light with one of these LEDs and now my cab is lit up like an operating room! In an unlit parking lot at night, I can click my unlock button and the dome light is like a friggin light house LOL
