The answers are going to be a mix of yes and no. You have not mentioned what trans but normally the bellhousing bolt patterns are the same. The differances come when you have an auto trans from either an idi or psd and are attempting to cross them. The idi has a 4 bolt converter and the psd has the 6 bolt converters. Flexplates are drilled differantly between the idi and psd engines too. they wil not cross no matter what you try.. So that goes for the fly wheels on both engines too. The clutch pressure plates and wheels wont cross. Why not repair the psd engine and resell the rig.

Sorry but forgot to answer the posted question... The blocks are completely differant in design. Nothing will cross to the idi. Heads wont... Intake wont. Crank and rods are differant lengths and widths but are the same stroke.

I was thinking a 99 up auto would bolt to the 7.3 IDI. The torque convertor for a Powerstroke is different though if I remember right. you would probably need to use a standalone computer for the transmission. If it has a ZF6-speed you have to do some fabbing to get that mated on. People have done it, but it's definitely not a bolt on deal.

Another route maybe to use the transmission and transfercase if needed from the IDI truck.

If you do the project let us know how it goes!

Nope.. Not exactlly correct Stuart... We can run anything that burns.. The psd fuel system can't.. But yes.. We do both run the same diesel but thats where the simalaritys end. Many members here run a blend of differant burnable fuels. I recall one member that would change oil and pour it directly into the fuel tank without settleing or filtering it. I'm guessing he felt the oil filter and the fuel filter was doing a fine job.. I run the Moose pumps.. I know running a wmo cocktail ruins the pumps no matter how well the wmo is filtered. I think only fractionating the wast oil will rid it of the soot.. Even then I'm not sure. A glass fraction tower is whats needed to distill the wmo. The feed rate needs to be set. The preheated feed is another item. And finally the heat from the rebioler needs to be known. Then the overhead is cooled by any means chesp enough to do.. Some can just run a copper tube thru some cold water. The material off the top will comnence and out comes new clean oil without the additive package in it.. The heavy crap off the bottom of this precess id tuff to deal with too. Its black thick tarey stuff too..

And im more concerned about running a lube additive in a DB-2 equiped truck opposed to a powerstroke where I run just diesel and focus more on keeping the oil clean to aid in injector life
