Thanks for the great pic showing lots of "things". First you have shown all of those that this needs to be carefully installed so the plate does not hang up on the non machined lips. Secondly you have shown the magnetic probe location at the damper tab. Its the tall skinny tube. Not the short fat tube where we have the zero mark for top dead center. And lastly you have shown the front oil dip stick tube location that has a plug in it. Thats where any idi installed in a big truck like an international S1600 has the dip stick. They also have the oil pan turned around backwards and the oil pickup to the pump set up much differently than in a van or pickup truck.

Spectre 42473 is also a bolt-on plate that won't interfere. For an extra bonus, it comes with bolts and gaskets.

OK, Your engine block sure looks clean. Is that just the result of power washing? It looks like it has been media blasted. Usually there is rust and old oem paint.

One of the blocks I pulled apart looking for a good short block for my 87.
Was less than perfect, so I freshened it up
Steam cleaned it and hit it with some rattle can.
I expect to put this in my hotrod build

Nice looking engine Brian. Look at both sides of the front and back of the heads. See those allen bolt head screws?? Well those are oil return ports so oil can be routed to them and drain back into the lower edge of the heads where the oil drain back channel is. Because your valve covers are off you may be able to see the inside holes in the heads.
