Diesel vs Gas - Auto Transmissions

Hey Guys,
I have buddy with a 96 F-250 powerstroke which needs a auto transmission and I happen to have one from a 90 F-250 gasser to swap - an E4OD I expect.

So will my 90 auto gas-trans fit his 96 auto diesel?

Or will it just rattle it to pieces??

Is there a specific version of the E4OD that needs to go behind a Powerstroke?

In the 80-97 Ford Trucks there are 3 different transmission bolt patterns:

Small Block Gas - 300, 302, 351
Big Block Gas - 460
Diesel - 6.9, 7.3, 7.3 PSD

So in this case, no it won't work.

Also IIRC, the valvebody is different along with some other internals.
