All good advise. Never feel shy about asking questions here. We're a pretty friendly bunch. The combined IDI knowledge you'll find here is better than most Ford dealers. The dealers rarely want to be bothered with these older trucks.

Fix what needs to fixed, what needs immediate attention, and drive your truck. Decide at your leisure what is not on the immediate list. Also read the IDI Tech Articles. There is a wealth of information there.

You mentioned gauges. You should understand right away that the stock Ford gauges are nothing more than moving idiot lights. If you really want to know what your engine is doing invest in some aftermarket gauges. You will want a coolant temp, a transmission temp (extremely important if you have an E4OD, where heat is your enemy), and EGT (exhaust gas temp).
