I recently stumbled upon a 8.2 turbo motor that had a failed roller lifter for $300, so I picked it up. I soon found how hard it is to find anyone with parts or tools, so I bought a running 8.2 turbo off an industrial pressure washer for $550, it runs great. I have a 65 F500 I want to drop it in, and I have an Eaton 9 speed roadranger I want to put behind it. Does anyone have a class 2 bellhousing they would sell/trade for my Class 1? I also have the twin disk clutch available. I know these have a bad reputation, but so do the 6.5 and 6.2 diesels, and I have been good with them if used moderately.

I’ve been inside a few of them and thought they were pretty well built, the 8.3 is kinda the king of that engine class but these Detroit’s do pretty well too. What pumps did you get with them? I’ll dig around and see what belhousings I got.

Thanks Wes, these engines use unit injectors like the 2 stroke Detroit's, so to increase fuel output you need different injectors. I already found a shop in Oregon who I sent my cores to and are rebuilding them to 300 hp marine spec (84cc) vs 205 which was 65cc. I tore the one motor down and thought the pistons and rods looked plenty stout, the open deck block is probably where most of the issue arises, but we'll deal with that when the time comes. I could weld up the gaps in the block, mill it flat and re bore it straight again.

They both have the 14mm head bolts. I would like to upgrade them, but finding information and bolts has been a struggle.

I have read that thread, he doesn't really say where to get parts or anything. Detroit doesn't support them anymore and the 2 stroke guys don't support them.

I found the bolts, there are 10 per head. 5 shorter at 5 1/8" to the head of the bolt and 5 longer ones at 6 3/8" to the head. Thank you for looking into it for me!

Nothing off the shelf is going to work, its a pretty wonky thread size at m14x2.0, from my digging you need x10 m14x2x130 and x10 m14x2x160mm studs. I can get you a replacement head bolt kit through M&D for $100, but thats just the stock 14mm 10.9 stuff. That should be good for 100 ft lbs, maybe we could do a fire ring setup?
