I have a 12.7 L Detroit 60 in a 1999 Freightliner FLD and the fuel filter is plugging up with engine oil... Any ideas guys? At this point ready to start throwing random parts at it

It's most likely soot coming past the injectors, making it back to the tank. May need new copper washers at the bottom.

Apparently there's nowhere for oil to get into the fuel on these engines. Unless someone is dumping it in the tank, or filter during changing.

Sorry to be late to the party, But:

Pull the return to tank line and run it into a clean bucket. Run the engine for a few minutes.

If you have oil traces, then it is getting into the head passages through:

a casting porosity, a loosened internal plug, a leaking small gasket. (The engine oil
pressure being greater than the fuel return to tank pressure.)

Either way, the head needs disassembled, pressure checked under water and the leak found.

Or R&R exchange for a rebuilt head.
