Hi,
Yes I have heard of the turbo - I have one installed on my 1986 F250. I had mine installed around 1993. As a matter of fact, I drove to Kamloops to get the turbo installed. If I recall correctly, Cariboo Place is just below the Aberdeen shopping centre, in the industrial area. I towed a 27ft trailer from Abbotsford to Kamloops and stayed in it overnight, while the truck was being worked on. I used approximately 1/3 less fuel going back to Abbotsford and there was virtuall no smoke at all - A HUGE IMPROVEMENT. Also, now when driving at high altitude, there are no smoke trails being laid down because of lack of oxygen. I think I paid $2300 for the complete installation including taxes etc.
I heard that the original owner died and that the company was sold - is all I know.
The turbo is as you say, a non waste gated turbo. Mine has been trouble free except the turbo oil drain back to the engine came off twice and made a mess putting oil around the engine and transmission. There is a 5/8" ID rubber hose that directs the oil back down to a nipple in the intake manifold gasket. These are secured (on my engine) with ordinary hose clamps. When the hose gets soft from the oil , it slips off the nipple and leaks everywhere - easily washed out though.
If you like I could take some photo's for you if it would be any help - at least where it sits on the engine etc.
The turbo performs well enough for me needs and I have had no problems to date. The other big improvement you could make is install and air cooler as the air gets pretty warm when compressed.
HTH
