Check the switches on the clutch & brake pedals, I have the exact same truck as you and this is the only place I've ever had trouble.

I may be in luck! I pulled the knee panel down to ck the fuses and a little blue one fell out.found an empty spot and pushed it back in.i also noticed that theres nothing holding my fuse box in.every corner thats supposed to hold a screw is broken.so it just bounces around i guess. We will go out in an hr or so and ill try the cruise then

How does your horn work? My '86 had the cruise go out, and the horn at the same time. On my '86 there was a relay which powered both the cruise and the horn. Strange combination. I found the relay up under the dash, about mid-way across.

Will your '87 be the same? Not really sure, but it's worth a test/look.

The Tech Articles has a write-up on diagnosing the electronic cruise control. I think, though, that your's is vacuum, isn't it?

I have a diagnostic for the vacuum cruise setup. I'd paste it in here, but it's 30 Kb, perhaps a bit big. If you'd like a copy I'd be happy to send it as an email attachment. If so, PM me with your email address, and I'll get it off to you.

This is going to sound dumb, but check the cruise cable. The cruise on my truck stopped working once. Turns out the cable had popped out of the holder on the injection pump.
