Just pondering at the moment, but I've been a little annoyed with my truck (seems to have had a lot of problems due to the previous owner letting it sit) and I've thought about selling it.

I've seen a few '95-96 PSD's locally in the $5000 range (just saw one in the paper that looks nice for $5500...5 speed, 4x4 F250), which is what I paid for my truck originally. When I was looking for trucks there were no PSD's anywhere near that price unless they were beat and/or had an automatic. I would expect a truck at that price to have higher miles, but can I get a decent PSD for that price?

A friend of mine just bought a 97 Supercab, 4x4 250 for 3500 It's not perfect, but it runs and drives just fine. It ran a 17.99 in the 1/4 mile two weeks ago. Right now the OBS PSD's can be had in the range. Most will have around 200K miles.

It's doable but you're looking at a truck with around 200k on the clock. If that doesn't bother you then you're probably good to go. But keep in mind that you're trading one truck with problems that you know about for another one with problems that you do not know about. While I don't know about IDI parts, typically PSD parts are pretty pricey and you have all sorts of electronics to diagnose and/or fix.

I have an antique too. Sometimes I get the itch for a new truck too, but then I look at how cheap and easy it is to fix my oldie and I get happy again. I also like the fact that I know that if I take care of it, my old antique will likely outlast most of the new trucks on the road. Insurance is cheap too.

I just paid 9800 for a 97 350 with 95,000 on the clock so I'd say you're in the range or less with 200K on it. Mine had some pretty nasty body rust though from sitting a while. Other than that, clean as a whistle & runs good....for now.

I've seen a bunch on the local craigs list for that price range. Sometimes they are in the 125-175K range. You have to look and know what you want......

I bought my 99 PS van for 5300.... but that was on EvilBay.... and I WANTED it.

The wife paid exactly this ($5500) for her PSD last summer. '95 F250 XLT 4x4 ZF5 single cab, 150,000-ish miles, nearly new Leer topper. What made it a "steal", and a somewhat rare find, was:
* 5-speed
* 4x4
* Pretty well-serviced (sheaf of service records)
* NOT smoked in
$5500 is a very good price for a truck that's been tended, or a total ripoff for a truck that's been whupped.

Most of the Craig's list stuff I see is due to 1) becoming unemployed 2) the high fuel costs [at least a while back it was]
