Guys,
No surprise, I need a core support. I have shopped at most of the usual places (LMC etc.) but the only ones listed for diesels are supposedly for non-AC trucks. I have AC. Question is, what's the difference? Is it just moving bracketry for the AC parts or is there a real physical difference? Is it easier to just buy a replacement core support and cut the rusty bits out and weld them in? I think the biggest bad place is the pass side mounting area.

Thanks!

This is what youre gonna have to do as it sounds like you've got some welding skills.;Sweet

Purchase a new gasser core support, cut the lower cradles off both new and old and graft them together. The lower cradle has several spot welds which hold it to the upper. Once the welds are drilled out and chisled off, the cradle will slide right out.

The last photo shows the finished produuct and in the background you ca see what's left of the gasser lower support.

Okay. I'll have to look and see what the condition is of the lower craddle. I have some welding skills but I'm certainly no professional. Thanks for the pictures! The diesel core supports are available at the same price as the gasers essentially. My question was is there a difference between a diesel AC core support and a diesel non-AC core support? The diesel core supports listed are listed as non-AC.

I'm not a pro by any means either. :D
The a/c versus non a/c is based off radiator size. The non a/c trucks use a short bit wide radiator. Whereas the a/c equipped trucks use a tall narrow radiator.

That's what I needed to know. So essentially, regardless of if I buy a gasser support or a diesel support w/o AC, my radiator won't fit. It will have to be modified.

Thanks!

This will answer all your questions about differences in Rad supports...

SHORT WIDE rad support is for NON AC trucks

TALL NARROW rad support is for AC trucks

You can clearly see which is for the SHORT rad and which is for the TALL rad...quite a difference
