Coolant and oil

Any recommendations on the brand of coolant and oil to be used in the 7.3 IDI Non turbo? I thought I had read something about using a certain brand of coolant but can't find that post.

There's an old saying, "opinions are like noses, we all got one and they all smell". This very question, will draw out the noses........ good luck.

Just make sure your coolant has SCAs, learn about cavitation. I lost a 7.3 to cavitation, because I didn't know about SCAs. (Special Coolant Additives)

Red coolant that's precharged will work. Green coolant will also work but you'll have to monitor the SCA levels with a test strip regularly. Like once a year or so.

I think I used Fleet Charge after my Oil Cooler fiasco.
It`s pink as I remember. I have a case of it in gallon jugs, just add distilled water.

I flushed out the cooling system 6 times with soap and water and 6 or so clear water flushes.
Added the new pink stuff, and it is now brown stuff.
I don`t think ya can ever get an old system clean.
I probably need a test kit to see where the sca level is.

Orange fleet charge is what I’ve been running for the last 5 years. No need to add scas with that stuff
