useful turbo/ NA stuff cont.
Might be too late for this.
In the torque list, it says not to use new bolts for the oil squirters. Why?
some people have said that new bolts will worth themselves out.
I tried finding the thread where I read that, but failed.
ive heard it mentioned a few times, so I thought it would be good to share.
anyone else got anything to contribute?
just use a general torque spec
1/4x20unc 7 ft-lbs
5/16x18 unc 14 ft-lbs
3/8x16 unc 24 ft-lbs
7/16 x 14 unc 38 ft-lbs
1/2x13 unc 60 ft-lbs
that should get you close
Not drain plug but the actual pan bolts. They get standard torque, with for 1/4-20 is 7 lbs.
When I tore down my 7.3, I documented all the bolts and their respective threads. When I reassembled it, I diagrammed out all any necessary torque sequences and identified them. Here are the images from my collection, and I added some 6.9 IDI info as well, and I identified any differences between the IDI truck and IDI Van engines.
Wow! That's super helpful, thanks for your efforts.
I was seriously about to post a link to your write up, than I saw you already have.
