Trying to sort thru and get my gauges working after an engine conversion , I believe its a red with a white strip?,im not getting movement at the gauge when I connect it to the stock sender, im reading 12volts there at the wire coming from the gauge
with my multi meter so I didn't want to ground it and burn a fuse or worse smoke the gauge..

Thanks much any responses

See page 1. Looks like it's red with a white stripe to the coolant temp gauge.
Hope this helps :)

The stock oil pressure "sender" is nothing more than a switch that closes above 7 psi (lots of info online about the Ford fake oil pressure gauge). Your meter is showing 12 volts because its resistance is much higher than the source resistance through the gauge coils, and some current draw is needed to pull it down to ground... in short, assuming your cluster hasn't been modified to use a real (variable resistance) sender, that lead is designed to be grounded by the switch. Connect it to ground and your dash gauge should read in the center.
