so i have been reading threads on here about clutches.. think i have made my mind up on the Southbend clutch set up, with the single mass flywheel.. I assume from what i have read the SMF is the way to go for pulling, and 80% of my trucks driving is with 8500lbs behind it when hauling my play truck and trailer... So am i making a good choice? the price is a little more than what i like but i guess you get what you pay for...

I think that's a good clutch choice, just be aware that you will have some rollover noise with the single mass flywheel. If you have a good set of injectors, your truck timed properly, and you bump up the idle a little bit, you'll probably be able to live with the gear clatter. I feel like the noise at idle is a reasonable tradeoff for something that's somewhat harder to break, but you know what they say about opinions......

thanks, yeah i have new bb injectors and a baby moose, all with under 1k miles on them so hopefully the new clutch kit will help it put the power to the wheels... my current clutch is lacking when hooked to the trailer..

Also, not to hijack the thread, but when I put a T-19 in my truck, will I need a 87-94 clutch to match the engine, or a 83-86 clutch to match the transmission?

You'll need the '83-'86 stuff. I have a T19 on the back of the 7.3 in my F250. I used the 6.9 flywheel and SBC 12 inch Kevlar/Metalic clutch. That clutch is a bit aggressive for daily driving, but I wanted to make sure it would slip like the stocker did after adding the turbo and other stuff. It hasn't, but it doesn't slip as easily from a stop as the stocker did.

You can get southbend to drill that flywheel to accept a powerstroke 13" clutch if you like a little more grabbing power.---Rob
