Do the lic. in OR. then transfer it to calif. I wish I lived closer to it and it wasn’t so close to elk season.

The engine has to be the same year or newer than the vehicle. All you need to do is tell the DMV you have "changed the mode of porpulsion". This is what the smog ref told me. You will not need to go to the ref for this conversion.

The 460 and diesel use the same engine crossmember, it is shaped differently to clear the 460's oil filter/adapter. The frame itself is the same between F250hd's and F350's. I've never messed with a LD F250, so I will leave that one out.
Somewhere in the 90's, I believe after the 92 body change, the W and 300 powered trucks started using the same 460/diesel crossmember without the cutout for the 302/W oil filter.

State put the kabosh on these swaps. To do you would need to title in another state and bring it back with a diesel title already done. Don't expect the ref to do it either, not happening any more, yes they used to. Buy a diesel crew cab with a blown engine, and put yours in it. A nor cal member has one with good paper now.........

I think the frames are the exact same no matter what motor you got....right? Edit, didnt see page 2 LOL

And like Calvin says, I think your going to run into a problem. You would think Cali would allow it, and just charge a crap load to do it (you know, cause they need revenue).

Well, we are going to pass on it. I can't justify having yet another truck sitting in the yard just so the boy can have something to go four wheeling with once in a while. Besides, I already have the diesel 4x4 in the back, waiting for some diagnostics to be performed. Anyone want an f350 4x4 CC? I can probably get it delivered.
