yeah speaking of which i need to change mine. but i dont mean to act like anyone is stupid but everyone is a noob at some time and there is always a first rodeo and if you have seen some rodeos end up like i have you try to give even the most trivial information. I cant count how many times i have gotten phone calls that this or that was going on and i show up and these guys have got everything ass backwards.

That's not a good way to do it. It's better to run a Qt. low than to overfill.
The crank counter weight's will thrash the oil and that aerates it causing poor lubrication, cooling and the like. With the volumne of oil in these IDI's the expansion is almost a Qt. That's why the oil level should be checked when it's hot.
Straight 30 weight is Ok, but 15W40 is better for winter driving.

Oldbull, I think that he means he is going get 3 gallons and then keep the extra for replacing what is lost, at least I hope that is what he means.

I know the feeling, I gotta go finish putting a trans in a 77 chevelle. here in a few. The modulator valve went out...so he ended up finding a transmission with a shift kit for him so i dont blame him on wanting to pull it and put this new one in..but for 150.00 i doubt it works...

Im gonna finish where he got stuck then im going home because i really dont think it works...fluid smells good...but you can put new fluid in a trans..

when i first got the truck i topped off the oil...about 3 weeks later it was 2 1/2 quarts low. thats when i started keepiong a better eye on it.

But i went to get my FIl3417 one piece fuel filter from napa the only one they have anywhere close is in tulsa. 65 miles away. So guess where im going  had to go there anyways, but i wont be able to change it til tmrw.

So i changed it today. not bad. IM out of my howes and nobody carries it around me so i grabbed the standadyne crap and some atf and filled the filter. it smoke for a good min, white smoke...but leveled out and is running so much better.

Apparently it had a sensor in the bottom of the filter piece. But the wire for its gone...and i cant find it anywhere. so i through the bottom piece in my tool box if i ever find that wire..throw it and some cheap extra filters in my tool box

5 mins in and out...took me long to fill the filter than it did for the change..if only big rigs where this easy.

I lost my remote starter. thatd been a bit easier on bleeding the excess air out of the filter housing. Didnt need it but i did it anyways
