I don't even know.. what I want to do yet, first step is to fix the exhaust leak, and get efficiency dialed in as much as I can for stock.

Truck runs REALLY well, for 300k, so the next step would be drop a pan and look for aftermarket bearings, yes, no? like to know if its been freshened.

After that, guages are a must, I am running the IP off my N/A 86 6.9... I have heard (scared to try... don't want the OMG!!! them are some high EGT's fairy paying me a visit), then after the gauges are in, I will look at subtle increases in Boost and Fuel...

Then.. we source an IC, and then maybe a cam.. and head studs... and if I am gonna stud them, may as well pull them off,... and then have them done.. then pistons didn't look that bad ($$$) so.. maybe a new set of pistons, balanced 7 ways from Sunday...

Frick, just talked myself into more work than I wanted.

I was thinking of hotshotting, and pulled a few loads, 15k gross weight works this old girl, course I pull out when temp gauge hits 2/3 (end of "normal") so maybe I coulda run her a little harder, but didn't want to do a headgasket on the side of the road.

Now, I have reconsidered hotshotting, and am not going to go that route, don't want to drive this thing into the ground making pennies a mile....(read the ******** on Uship)...

And I just want a little more, almost happy with what I have, and Hell, who knows, that exhaust leak might be costing e more HP loss than I am figuring, and that may do it. I was flat tickled pink with my 6.9. Only wished for a turbo on a few hills, and it wore 3.54 gearing.

I've been watching this thread & the first thing you need to invest in (no matter what you do in the future) is a set of real gages. Mechanical or electric. I don't have a top of the line set in any of my trucks, BUT all are 1,000 times better than the factory sweeps that are in the dash!!:yell::yell:
